Speaker Bio
Dr. Denise Arruda is the Senior Manager of Software Electronics for Fire Suppression Products at Johnson Controls. She is responsible for leading a global development team to implement the right digital solution to solve the right business problem. Dr. Arruda is a leader of leaders, driving strategy, vision, and technology direction while leading, coaching, motivating, and inspiring her team to deliver on their commitments. She is located in Cranston, RI.
Dr. Arruda brings a strong technical and project management background to this role. Before becoming a Sr. Manager, Denise was a technical Program Manager driving execution excellence to exceed stakeholders’ and customers’ expectations. Dr. Arruda received her doctorate in IT, specializing in Project Management from Capella University in 2019. She has been a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2004. In 2018, She extended her knowledge to include Agile practices and obtained a Professional Scrum Master (PSM-1) certification. Dr. Denise Arruda is an adjunct professor of Project Management at Boston University in the Metropolitan College Administrative Sciences program.
Fun Fact: During the Covid lockdown, I learned how to build and program robots for fun. I have a collection of three different robots I built.
The first one is driven manually and has a claw that I used to pick up the tennis balls my dogs did not retrieve. The second looks like a car. It is programmed to follow a line. I laid out a track with black electric tape on my kitchen floor. The third is a two-wheel robot that uses a gyroscope to balance.
