I am a data scientist who works on the Inclusion and Diversity team at Starbucks to establish and support data-driven inclusion and diversity strategy. I have led initiatives around executive success and retention predictors, employee sentiment, the candidate recruiting funnel, and more. Prior to joining Starbucks, I worked at Capital One on the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging People Analytics team. I hold a B.S.E. in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan and a certificate in diversity and inclusion from Cornell University.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m looking forward to learning about the experiences and careers of other speakers and participants. With the tech industry being so large, I often feel like there are pockets of the industry that I know little to nothing about. I\u2019m excited to expand my knowledge in some of those less familiar spaces!<\/p>\n
Surround yourself with people whose careers inspire you! These people don\u2019t need to be formal mentors – they can be colleagues, friends, or just people you follow on LinkedIn. When you have a network that motivates you to grow and develop, that growth and development will come much more naturally.<\/p>\n
Resilience means the ability to recover from difficult situations. We\u2019ve all been hit with unexpected challenges in our lives, and it isn\u2019t always easy to embrace and overcome the challenge. Mental health has been something that I\u2019ve struggled with often. When I was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder during my freshman year of college, I was unsure I\u2019d finish my degree. By the time I crossed the stage at graduation, I had co-founded a mental health publication, sat on various mental health and disability advisory boards, and was a frequent guest speaker for various organizations focused on reducing the stigma that surrounds mental health. When we turn lemons into lemonade, we\u2019re showcasing just how resilient we can be.<\/p>\n
